LEWISTON JoAnn Engel Pike died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was born Feb. 16, 1942, in Park, Kan. She grew up in the farming community of Oakley, Kan., graduating from Mount St. Scholastica High School in Atchison in 1960 and entered the convent of the Immaculate Conception the same year. During her years as a sister in the Dominican Order she graduated from Sacred Heart College in Wichita and taught in parochial schools. They got as far as the Lewiston/Auburn area of Maine. She taught third grade in the Lewiston school system and during that Gafas Oakley Baratas time she was instrumental in starting the New Vine Community, a charismatic prayer group. JoAnn is best known as a founder and CEO of the Good Shepherd Food Bank 23 years ago. JoAnn began the work of feeding the hungry from Michael Kors Bags her home on Court Street in Auburn.
